Does AloEx really help new growth, itchiness, and dandruff? Who has tried it?

Hello everyone! No need to wonder whether this post is a sponsored review — yes, it is SR. The products were received for free. As someone who loves reviewing things, I was genuinely curious whether AloEx could actually solve problems like hair loss, dandruff, weak hair, and itchiness. The price is quite something — but with our abundant beauty and wealth, today we'll try it out and analyse the ingredients for you. Fair warning: this review will be fairly casual — I'm no expert — but I'll explain as much as I know. Let's go!!!

AloEx Hair Regrowth Shampoo & Serum

These two are said to be a shampoo and serum designed specifically for people with hair and scalp problems. I'm told the shampoo is unlike ordinary shampoos on the market because it contains no silicone, sulphate, fragrance, alcohol, or parabens like some products on the market. On this point, it firmly claims that those with sensitive, easily irritated scalps can use it. As for the serum, it comes in to complement by reducing itchiness and helping new hair to grow. We'll go into the details shortly.

Upon opening the box, you will find a shampoo bottle and a serum bottle, neatly arranged.

The back of the box clearly details each product along with instructions for use. I thought it would be better to just try using it and see how it feels. Along the way I'll also analyse the ingredients.

Scalp condition before starting

First of all, I want everyone to see the condition of my scalp before trying both AloEx products. As you can see, there's no dandruff, and the hair isn't visibly thinning or shedding. My hair has only been coloured once in my lifetime — and that was many years ago. Overall, I think my hair is in good, normal condition. There might be some occasional itching or natural shedding, but nothing unusual. I thought we'd try each product one at a time.

AloEx Hair Regrowth Shampoo 200ml.

This one claims to have been researched by scientists who discovered the benefits of oils extracted from various Thai herbs, including Kaffir Lime, Butterfly Pea, Aloe Vera, Henna, Glory Bower (Clerodendrum), Moringa, Ginseng, Thai Soapnut, Bamboo Leaf, and Gotu Kola — combining them all in a single bottle. Its claimed benefits are numerous, but rather than listing them, I'll take a look at the ingredient analysis on the back of the bottle instead.

Based on its ingredients, this is a shampoo that uses gentle cleansing agents such as Sodium cocoamphoacetate together with Sodium cocoyl glutamate and Sodium cocoyl isethionate. So the lather may not be as rich as a regular shampoo — but from trying it out, there were no issues with lather at all.

In terms of nourishing agents, there are quite a few — but if you're not bothered reading, feel free to skip this part. It gets a bit technical.
  • Aloe vera extract — adds moisture to the scalp and reduces inflammation and irritation.
  • Moringa oil — replenishes lipids to hair strands and the scalp, helping hair appear shiny and the scalp stay moisturised and not dry.
  • Gotu Kola extract — its prominent properties are reducing inflammation and promoting the natural wound healing (Wound healing) process, thus helping to slow and reduce scalp inflammation and hair shedding.
  • Extract from Clerodendrum inerme, or Glory Bower (Clerodendrum) — a plant used in Indian medicine and traditional Thai medicine for a long time, for its properties of killing pathogens, promoting wound healing, and reducing skin inflammation.
  • Ginseng extract — has many wide-ranging benefits, helping to balance the scalp's immune response and keeping the scalp strong. Research has shown that ginseng extract can inhibit the activity of the enzyme 5α-reductase, which converts male hormones into the more potent Dihydrotestosterone — a key culprit behind hair loss. Ginseng extract therefore helps protect against hormone-related hair fall. The report also states that ginseng extract can promote hair growth in animal subjects (which is actually pretty impressive).
  • Soapnut extract helps eliminate certain scalp fungi, keeping the scalp healthy
  • Extract from Kaffir Lime Leaf — contains essential oils with properties of controlling scalp oiliness and inhibiting certain types of pathogens.
  • Extract from Lawsonia inermis, or Henna — contains the colourant Lawsone, which has a deep brown colour and may help cover grey hair (this is a guess; couldn't find information on it, so it may be omitted).
  • Extract from Eryngium maritimum, or Sea Holly — there are reports of antioxidant properties and scalp anti-inflammatory effects.

The instructions are the same as for any ordinary shampoo. It comes in the form of a slightly cloudy gel (as shown in the photo), with a distinctly herbal scent and a cool sensation on the scalp. The lather is good. To be honest, I actually like the fact that it contains no irritants — as I tend to get acne around my face, and shampoo is partly to blame for that.

Highlights

It is a shampoo with gentle cleansing agents that does not make hair overly dry nor overly oily. This balance is quite good (personally I like it). It contains many types of nourishing agents derived from nature, with overall properties including reducing inflammation and irritation, adding moisture, restoring lipids to hair and scalp, reducing shedding, promoting new growth, and even addressing dandruff. (It may sound like a stretch, but based on the ingredients it can genuinely achieve these things — though how long it takes, I honestly don't know.) Downside:

The ingredient list on the back of the box is incomplete, so it's impossible to know what other components are present. This may be because some parts of the formula are proprietary.

AloEx Hair Regrowth Shampoo 120ml.

This one claims to be a serum suitable for people with hair loss, itchy scalp, or dandruff, helping new hair to grow and nourishing hair roots to become stronger and softer. Let's look at the ingredients.

In the case of the serum, it relies on a combination of natural extracts — including Butterfly Pea Flower, Aloe Vera, Thai Soapnut, Bamboo, and Kaffir Lime — blended into a single formula, restoring hair to its best by
  • Butterfly Pea Flower extract — contains anthocyanin-group pigments, helps fight free radicals, and has properties that promote new hair growth.
  • Aloe vera extract — adds moisture to the scalp and reduces inflammation and irritation. If there is inflammation and irritation, it can also contribute to hair fall.
  • Soapnut extract helps eliminate certain scalp fungi, keeping the scalp healthy
  • Bamboo extract — has properties that reduce inflammation and irritation, and provides a soothing sensation for the scalp.
  • Kaffir Lime extract — has properties of controlling scalp oiliness. The essential oils from Kaffir Lime peel also have properties that inhibit certain types of pathogens.
Simply spray it at the hair roots, then allow it to absorb and dry naturally. It should only be used after the scalp is dry. You can also spray it as frequently as desired throughout the day — at least 2–3 times per day — without rinsing off.

Highlights

It uses multiple naturally-derived nourishing agents that work together to maintain scalp health, promote hair growth, and help keep hair strong. Downside:

From the limited ingredients listed on the back of the box, I can only broadly assess what each ingredient may do, but cannot determine how effective to expect or what percentage of each ingredient is included — that remains unknown.

Summary of results after using AloEx Hair Regrowth Shampoo & Serum for a full 1 month

Let me start with the feel. Personally, the scalp itchiness seemed to noticeably subside. The focus is on the herbal ingredients from the shampoo and serum. It's reassuring that there are no irritants. Hair appeared to shed less — measured by sweeping the floor — it's just reduced, not completely stopped. As for the scent that you can detect from the shampoo, I looked into it further and it turns out it's not an herbal scent, but rather the scent of essential oils imported from France, such as rosemary, which has properties that help treat and reduce scalp inflammation, and also provides a relaxing aromatherapy effect. This point is quite nice — it feels premium.

What I particularly like about this shampoo is the absence of silicone. Even though silicone can make hair feel slippery and smooth — which most people like — over time it can clog pores, leading to dandruff, itching, hair loss, and eventually hair thinning. So this is really an alternative shampoo that is well-suited for people with sensitive skin. I can now summarise my satisfaction score after using both AloEx shampoo and hair serum for 1 month as follows:

Cleanliness: 5/5. Really like this point — the cleansing is excellent and gentle.

Reducing hair fall: 4.5/5. Normally, my shedding wasn't very heavy — but I noticed less hair on the floor when sweeping.

Scent: 5/5. I think the scent is distinctly unique — mostly herbal. I like it.

New hair growth: — Since my hair was already thick, I'm not sure about the extent of new growth.

To summarise: I recommend this for those who have the budget and feel they want a shampoo and hair serum that gives them peace of mind to use — because shampoos free of irritants are genuinely rare in Thailand. I often decant it and bring it when travelling to the provinces, since you never know whether hotel shampoos contain harmful ingredients or might cause allergies. And even though my hair doesn't shed excessively at the moment, I intend to keep using it as a preventive measure against premature hair loss in the future — especially for men who style their hair frequently like me, which increases the chances of more shedding. So I think it helps to a reasonable extent. For those with more severe cases of prolonged hair loss and thinning, it may take around 2–3 months or more — but I'm not certain about this either. A bit of karma and luck may be needed too. After finishing one set, observe whether the hair is shedding less and whether new growth is appearing — check along the parting line or the front hairline. Based on the ingredients, I believe it does help — but may require some time. Good luck. Overall, I think it's quite worth the investment. But for those whose budget doesn't allow it, other brands on the market are perfectly fine too.

We're not selling anything — but since we're pretty enough to leave this information here, no need for anyone to ask again.
